Denison Montessori School Open House Is Feb. 22; Apply Now For Fall 2007

See the highly-esteemed Montessori program for yourself! Denison Montessori School's open house is 6:30-8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 22 at 1821 S. Yates Street in southwest Denver. Refreshments and childcare will be provided. The enrollment deadline for 2007-2008 is Wednesday, Feb. 28.

A magnet school serving Early Childhood Education (ECE)-grade 6, Denison is one of only three public schools in Denver to offer Montessori education. Students throughout the Metro area, including Jefferson County, are eligible to attend Denison. Transportation is provided for students living in Denver.

Denison's ECE for 3- and 4-year-olds is half day, with an extended-day option for 4-year-olds. Five-year-olds receive full-day instruction, with small-group lessons in the afternoon.

Montessori fosters independent decision making skills, and nurtures and guides a child's natural drive to learn. Denison strongly emphasizes taking responsibility for one's learning under the guidance of skilled teachers. Most teachers have master's degrees. All are nationally certified in Montessori instruction.

Students leave with a well-rounded education that increases their confidence in their own abilities and prepares them for a rigorous learning environment - and we place a high value on the arts. In addition to vocal music and visual arts, students in grades K-3 may learn Suzuki violin, and students in grades 4-6 can choose orchestra.

Tours are offered at 9:30 a.m. on Thursdays through February. For a tour, call Nancy Saiz, 303-934-7805. Visit Denison at http://denison.dpsk12.org.

For information, contact Beth Hamilton, Denison Montessori School principal, 303-934-7805.
