Rewarding Manual Students' Hard Work

DPS Volunteers Hit The Streets To Deliver Good News, "You're Getting A Laptop Computer!"

This weekend, dozens of DPS volunteers will hit the streets with a nice surprise for hardworking former Manual High School students. Over 150 students will receive a free laptop computer through a generous donation from Kristin and Blair Richardson. In order to receive the computer, students must have achieved an attendance rate of 90 percent or higher in the first semester of the 06-07 school year at their new DPS high schools.

Students not currently eligible will have a second opportunity to qualify for the free computer by meeting the attendance threshold during the current 06-07 spring semester. These students will receive their computers at the beginning of the 07-08 school year.

DPS volunteers will conduct two block-walking sessions as they head door-to-door to notify these students and their families about their eligibility to receive a free laptop computer. DPS staff, Manual community members, and other volunteers will personally deliver a certificate of accomplishment and a packet of important information regarding laptop training and pick-up.
