Children At Assumption Greek Orthodox Church Provide Gifts For Ellis Elementary School Children
Christmas is a season of giving. The children from the Sunday School class at Assumption of the Theotokos Metropolis Greek Orthodox Cathedral in Denver understand that as they have reached out to 20 children at Ellis Elementary.
Many of the children at Ellis and many of the adults at Assumption have several things in common: a good number of Ellis Elementary children are newly arrived immigrants and refugees from countries around the world, many of the adults at Assumption have been in this country for less than a generation. While the people from Assumption are not newly arrived, they understand what it is like to come to a new country, learn a new language, adjust to new customs while working under the pressures of providing food and shelter for their family.
