Lowry Elementary School's Family Literacy Night

Lowry Elementary School is holding its annual Family Literacy Night and Book Fair on Wednesday, November 15 from 7:00 - 8:00 P.M.

The focus of Literacy Night is how parents can support their children's development as writers. Writing across the curriculum, as a proven way to increase children's ability to communicate clearly and effectively, is a primary goal of Lowry Elementary School this year.

Through the Literacy Night activities, parents will become familiar with the state and district writing standards and expectations. Teachers will show parents simple, effective, and time efficient ways that they can support the homework assignments, in all content areas, that will be scored for writing proficiency this year.

We are encouraging parents to come early to browse the wonderful Book Fair and purchase books for their children.

One of Lowry's own teachers, Jessie Bass, a published author of children's books, will conduct a writing session with the children.

For more information contact the school at 303-340-0179.
