DPS Students Help Travelers "Relax Under The Big Top!"
Denver Public Schools students will invite DIA travelers to "Relax Under the Big Top" to help calm nerves and add a festive flare during the hectic holiday travel season. As part of the 16th International Performance Series at Denver International Airport, four DPS schools are represented in this year's event. Once again, South High School's "Mad Hot Ballroom" Spirit Dancers will participate. This year, they've expanded their repertoire to include both hip-hop and Latin dances. Hamilton Middle School Orchestra and Band's 140 musicians will also take center stage and fill the tent with their glorious music. The Centennial Prospectors Middle School Orchestra will also help put everyone in the holiday spirit; and this year, the Rachel Noel Middle School string orchestra will also join in the fun.
In addition to the schools, some of the finest regional talent will be performing throughout DIA's Jeppesen Terminal Great Hall and passenger check-in. Airport guests and employees might be serenaded by a classical flutist, tap toes to the vibrant sounds of a Brazilian quartet, enjoy some smooth jazz or be entertained by a school choir. There will be the music and dance of South America, Italy, Ireland, Spain, Israel, Eastern Europe and the USA.
If you are traveling or picking up a loved one, the hope is everyone will have a chance to stop by and enjoy the relaxing atmosphere. The series is scheduled for Tuesday, Nov. 21 and Wednesday Nov. 22 and resumes Saturday Nov. 25 through Monday, Nov. 27. School choirs perform on Thursday Dec. 14. The full series continues on Thursday, Dec. 21 through Sunday, Dec. 24, Tuesday, Dec. 26 through Sunday, Dec. 31. Performances are planned from 8:00 a.m. until 5:30 p.m.
