DPS Releases 2005-06 AYP Results
Today the Colorado Department of Education released its Annual Yearly Progress reports for the state's schools districts. Among the findings, a significant number of Denver Public Schools made substantial progress towards achieving targets established under the No Child Left Behind Act of 2001.
According to the CDE findings:
63 DPS schools made AYP (Reading and Math) in 2005-2006.
- 42 Elementary Schools
- 15 Middle Schools
- 6 High Schools
43 schools made AYP (Reading and Math) in both 2005-2006 and 2004-2005.
- 32 Elementary Schools
- 8 Middle Schools
- 3 High Schools
16 schools made AYP (Reading and Math) in 2005-2006 and did not the prior year. 9 schools (8 Elementary Schools and 1 Middle School) in 04-05 and not the prior year.
- 10 Elementary Schools
- 3 Middle Schools (4 "new" schools made AYP this yr)
- 3 High Schools
10 schools have a free/reduced lunch population of greater than 90% and made AYP (Reading and Math) in 2005-2006.
- Seven Elementary Schools
- Three Middle Schools
Two schools came off of School Improvement after making AYP for two consecutive years. One last year (Barrett Elementary School).
- Fairview Elementary School
- McGlone Elementary School
One neighborhood high school made AYP (Reading and Math) in 2005-2006. None in 2004-2005.
- George Washington High School
61 schools increased their percent of AYP cells met from the 2004-2005 school year to the 2005-2006 school year.
- 40 Elementary Schools
- 12 Middle Schools
- 9 High Schools
