Manual High School "Renewal Process" Community Meeting, Saturday, June 10th
On Saturday, June 10th from 3pm - 5pm, Denver Public Schools is hosting a community meeting at Manual High School, located at 1700 E. 28th Avenue, to hear from interested contractors about their Manual renewal proposals and to gather community feedback.
Next week, the Manual Advisory Committee, co-chaired by DPS School Board President Theresa Pena and Councilwoman Elbra Wedgeworth, will make a recommendation to Superintendent Michael Bennet to hire a contractor(s) to lead and manage the community renewal process for the redesign of Manual High School.
On February 16, 2006, the Denver Public School (DPS) Board voted to temporarily close Manual High School for a year because of low academic performance, low enrollment, and high attrition rates. Manual will reopen in the fall of 2007 with a 9th grade class, and will add one grade level each of the next three years.
The Superintendent and School Board are committed to creating a 'premier' Manual High School that reflects the needs and priorities of the northeast Denver community and enhances the broader educational landscape of DPS.
