Del Pueblo K-8 School Will Celebrate Cinco De Mayo With $100,000 Grant From Lowe's For Campus-Wide Improvements
On Friday, May 5 at 1 p.m., Del Pueblo K-8 School will be presented with a $100,000 grant from Lowe's Charitable and Educational Foundation to enhance the school and beautify the campus in preparation for a national solar conference to be held there this summer.
Del Pueblo K-8 School has been chosen as one of six Colorado Legacy Schools by the American Solar Energy Society (ASES) and will be visited by 1,500 ASES Conference participants.
The Lowe's grant was made possible by the contributions of Lowe's vendor partners and will fund a school enhancement partnership between the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL), the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the Department of Energy, XCEL Energy, ASES and Lowe's. These groups are bringing their specific expertise to the project and supplying solar equipment, teacher science education, after-school science programs, school energy conservation and grounds beautification. Community volunteers, students, parents and Lowe's employees, will beautify the campus by replacing playground equipment, landscaping and installing new flooring and skylights throughout the school.
To arrange interviews or photo opportunities, please call Julianna Bowman at 404- 898-1652 or school principal Dan Villescas at 303- 629-1473. Del Pueblo K-8 School is located at 750 Galapago St.
