Dr. Irma Anthony Wins Robert L. Hawkins Social Work Achievement Award

On Saturday, April 29 at the University of Denver, the Robert L. Hawkins Social Work Achievement Award was presented to Dr. Irma Anthony, Social Work Services Manager for Denver Public Schools.

The award was presented at the 75th Anniversary Celebration of the Graduate School of Social Work 2005 alumni awards.

"We were pleased to nominate her because she is a remarkable individual who has served Denver Public Schools for over 35 years as a school social worker, and for the past five years, Social Work Services Manager," said the nomination statement from social workers Doris Goodteacher, Connie Clifton and Haley Figueroa. "She uses her creativity, perseverance and passion to be an advocate for the 75 social workers she supervises. Irma truly inspires her staff to do their best each day. Her management style is positive, strong and supportive."

Dr. Anthony serves on the Boards of Judi's House, Denver Department of Human Services and Children's Advisory Board, School Based Clinic Management Board, DPS Health Advisory Council and the Graduate School of Social Work (GSSW) Field Minority Advisory Committee. She also collaborates with GSSW, Colorado State University and Metro State College in managing a successful school social work internship program.
