Eleven Students Headed To National Forensic League Tournament
Eleven students will represent Denver Public Schools and the Rocky Mountain South Region at the National Forensic League Tournament for Speech and Debate in Dallas, Texas. The event will be held June 17 - 23.
In honor of their success, a reception will be held at the Grant-Humphrey's Mansion (770 Pennsylvania St.) on Wednesday, May 10 from 5:30 - 7:30 p.m.
The students are from East and George Washington high schools. The East students (and their events) are Jesse Mason (Student Congress), Rachel Banks and Cary Shapiro (Duo Interpretation), Catie Gliwa (Original Oratory), Paige Romer (Humorous Interpretation), Josh Mangiagli (National Extemporaneous Speaking), Jon Hammond (Lincoln Douglas Debate), Will Van Treuren and Alex Eppler (Cross-Examination Debate). The George Washington students are Gabe Stein and Jordan Bernhardt (Cross-Examination Debate).
The East High School team is coached by debate teacher Kelli Trotsky; the George Washington High School team is coached by Martin Schnipper and Lisa Hartman.
