Martin Luther King, Jr. Early College To Participate In 2006 "College Friday"

In connection with College-in-Colorado and CBS4, the Martin Luther King Jr. Early College faculty will don their favorite college apparel on Friday, April 7.

The purpose is to help students appreciate the importance of post-secondary learning and to raise awareness about the statewide effort to improve college access for all Colorado students, particularly low-income and minority students.

The Early College is undergoing revitalization, transforming from a traditional middle school into a sixth-through-twelfth grade early college by 2010. Next fall, a select group of ninth grade students will become the Early College's first high school students. They will accelerate through a college prep curriculum and take college-level courses through the Community College of Aurora.

The 2006 College Friday event matches the mission of the Early College program. Participating schools or businesses can contact Kimberly Tulp with College-in-Colorado at 720-264-8564.

For more information, contact Rachel Bruce at 720-424-0466. Martin Luther King Jr. Early College is located at 19535 E. 46th Ave. in Green Valley Ranch.
