Abraham Lincoln Lancers Folklorico Dance Group Crowned National High School Champions

Ballet Folklorico Zitlalkiauitl of Abraham Lincoln High School returned from the High School Folklorico Festival Competition this week as national champions.

The competition, held in Molina High School in Dallas from March 31 - April 2, featured the top 10 high schools from around the United States competing for top honors. The dance group competed in the senior category (for students 15 - 18 years old) and broke an eight-year winning streak owned by La Joya High School from La Joya, Texas.

Ballet Folklorico Zitlalkiauitl is comprised of 16 students from Abraham Lincoln High School (located at 2285 S. Federal Blvd.). The group has been practicing for over three months. Most recently, the students hosted the Fiestas of Mexico Folkloric Festival at Abraham Lincoln High School with 600 community members in attendance.
