Fields Closed At South And Thomas Jefferson High School For Upgrades
Several fields are closed and off-limits for all use at Thomas Jefferson High School and South High School while crews install new sod, irrigation and other improvements, the DPS Department of Facility Management has announced.
At South High School (1700 E. Louisiana Ave.) a new soccer field is being installed with new fencing and irrigation on the corner of East Louisiana Ave. and Race Street. New sod and irrigation is also being installed at the football and baseball fields on the Franklin Street side of South High School.
At Thomas Jefferson High School (3950 S. Holly St.) improvements include a new artificial football field with lighting and all-season track, four new tennis courts and irrigation of the baseball, softball and soccer fields.
"We appreciate the patience of community members as these upgrades are made," said Mike Langley, Executive Director of Facility Management. "These fields should not be used while construction is underway. Once the work is complete, use may be booked through the district's Community Use office."
Langley said work should be complete by the end of June, although work at the baseball field portion of the All-City Complex (at South) will begin in mid-July and run through August.
The Community Use office may be reached at 720-423-3352.
