The Denver School of the Arts, the only comprehensive arts magnet school in the Rocky Mountain region for grades 6 - 12, provides the opportunity for students to grow academically and to develop their artistic talents. Students audition for admittance to the school in the arts major of their choice: video cinema arts, creative writing, dance, instrumental music, stage craft and design, theatre, visual arts and vocal music. Also the school has a comprehensive academic program that includes a Gifted and Talented program, internet access, AP classes and CU Succeeds.
Students sign a contract to maintain a 2.5 grade point academic average and a 3.0 art major average in order to stay at DSA. Courses are designed to integrate the arts and academics and special attention is given to meet the individual needs of students. DSA's achievement levels on both the ITBS and CSAP are among the highest in the city. Since the school's inception, 95 percent of the graduates move on to college or conservatories.
