Young Americans Bank To Host "Teach Children To Save Day" At Mckinley-Thatcher Elementary School
On Tuesday, April 25 Young Americans Bank, the only bank in the world just for young people, will host "Teach Children To Save Day" at McKinley-Thatcher Elementary School.
With bankruptcy rates on the incline and savings on the decline in the United States, learning the importance of saving and developing good saving habits at a young age can have a positive financial impact on a young person.
The "Teach Children To Save Day" assembly will be presented by Barbara Danbom, President and CEO of Young Americans, and the Young Americans Youth Advisory Board, a group of 17 teenagers who meet monthly to learn about banking and the nonprofit programs offered at Young Americans.
The assembly will include why it is important to save, a few fun facts about money, a description of Young Americans Bank and ways the bank can help make saving fun and easy. Following the assembly, Youth Advisory Board members (and perhaps a few bank staff members) will lead age-appropriate games of "Banking Bingo" in each classroom. In preparation for "Teach Children to Save Day," the students are writing essays on what they would like to save for. The winner in each class will receive $5 and a piggy bank to start saving.
McKinley-Thatcher Elementary School is located at 1230 S. Grant St. The school telephone number is 303-777-8816.
