Board Of Education Meeting Agendas For Monday, April 17 And Thursday, April 20
The Board of Education will hold a 4:30 p.m. work session on Monday, April 17. On Thursday, April 20 the Board will hold a 5 p.m. regular meeting and a 6 p.m. public comment session.
Following are the tentative agenda items:
Work Session - Monday, April 17, 4:30 p.m.:
- Instructional reform efforts including reorganization of the Curriculum and Instruction Department and Student Support Services
- School innovation grants
- Follow-up to the April 6 presentation on the fiscal condition of the district
- Review regular meeting agenda for Thursday, April 20
- Executive session (negotiations, personnel)
Regular Meeting - Thursday, April 20, 5:00 p.m.:
- Recognition of East High School Constitutional Scholars 2006 State Champions for "We the People...the Citizen and the Constitution."
- Motion to approve revised Board meeting schedule for the 2005-2006 school year. The motion would reflect that June 2006 meetings will be moved to June 19 and June 22.
- Motions to approve construction contracts for renovations at Abraham Lincoln High School and Schmitt Elementary School.
- Motion to approve renewal of Denver Public Schools' health insurance plans for all active employees.
- Motion to ratify an agreement between Denver Public Schools and the Communication Workers of America effective May 1, 2006 through April 30, 2009.
- Old business: DATA Charter School renewal application report; PS1 Charter School renewal application report.
- New business: The Board will be asked for to review on first reading a revised Board policy on naming of facilities.
Public Comment Session - Thursday, April 20, 6:00 p.m.
The Board holds public comment sessions to listen to comments about student achievement, budget policy or matters currently under consideration by the Board. Each speaker will have three minutes to speak, but groups of four or more people speaking on the same topic will have 10 minutes collectively. To sign up to speak, please call the Board Office at 720-423-3210 by 5 p.m. the day before the public comment session.
