Colorado Coalition For The Homeless Names Denver Public Schools' Educational Outreach Program "Homeless Program Of The Year"

Denver Public Schools' Educational Outreach Program will be recognized with the "Homeless Program of the Year Award" at the May 17 conference of the Colorado Coalition for the Homeless (CCH). The award is given to the program that best demonstrated effectiveness, innovation and positive impact on homelessness throughout the past year.

"The staff of Educational Outreach Program deeply appreciates this recognition," said Liz Murphy, EOP coordinator and Denver Public Schools' Homeless Liaison. "A team effort is required to serve families and students who face the kinds of daily crises that homelessness brings and Denver Public Schools is fortunate to have caring and thoughtful staff to support these families as they look for stability at home and in school."

In particular, Murphy recognized staff members Anna Stout (Quadrant Liaison for south Denver schools), Jackie Ulmer (Quadrant Liaison for north Denver schools), Lowry Elementary School counselor Patricia Vaughan and Gilpin Elementary School paraprofessional Nicole Stokke, who works with the after-school program and tutors during the day.

The nomination for the award was made by two caseworkers at CCH, Matt Wallington and Kathy Gansemer. The day-long conference will be held Wednesday, May 17 at the Denver Merchandise Mart, 651 E. 58th Ave. For more information, visit www.coloradocoalition.org.
