Board Of Education Meeting Agendas For Thursday, March 16
The Board of Education will hold a 5 p.m. regular meeting and a 6 p.m. public comment session on Thursday, March 16.
The 5 p.m. regular meeting will begin with a resolution recognizing Maruca Salazar as recipient of the Mayor's Awards for Excellence in the Arts. Other agenda highlights are:
- Motion to ratify donations for Channel 7 Make-Over at Hallett Elementary School and Montbello High School.
- Motion to ratify architect selection for the new Stapleton III school.
- Motion to ratify construction contract for the Learning Landscape and parking lot projects at Cowell, Fairview, Greenlee, and McKinley-Thatcher elementary schools.
- Motion to ratify construction contract for the Learning Landscape and sidewalk projects at Holm and Samuels elementary schools.
- Motion to ratify construction contract for mechanical upgrade projects at Barnum, Fairmont, Fairview and Moore elementary schools and Emily Griffith Opportunity School.
- Motion to approve construction contract for renovation of Kunsmiller Middle School.
- Motion to approve construction contract for renovation at Martin Luther King Jr. Middle School.
- Motion to approve construction contract for mechanical upgrades at Denison and Kaiser elementary schools.
- Motion to approve construction contract for renovations at Denison, Force, Knapp and Sabin elementary schools.
- Motion to approve renewal of DPS health insurance plans.
- Motion to approve naming of three new northeast schools - schools now known as Stapleton II, Montbello-Village Place K-8, and Picadilly K-8 in Green Valley Ranch.
- Motion to approve construction contract for renovations at Denison, Force, Knapp and Sabin elementary schools.
- A motion approving a policy on Student Academic Achievement that establishes the Board's "core beliefs" including that all students will learn at grade level or higher and reach their full potential. No excuses; High quality teaching will drive student achievement; Accountability for performance at all levels of the system; Provide intentional, positive culture where every adult serves an important role; Include parents and the community as valued partners to ensure student achievement. The proposed policy spells out a "theory of action" for change that provides a framework to drive the strategic plan, policies, resources and district operations.
- A motion regarding the renewal of the Skyland Community High School Charter School.
6 P.M. PUBLIC COMMENT SESSION
The Board holds public comment sessions to listen to comments about student achievement, budget policy or matters currently under consideration by the Board. Each speaker will have three minutes to speak, but groups of four or more people speaking on the same topic will have 10 minutes collectively. To sign up to speak, please call the Board Office at 720-423-3210 by 5 p.m. the day before the public comment session.
