Colorado Hispanic Bar Association Recognizes Community Resources, Inc. With "Community Service Award"

Community Resources, Inc (CRI) was recently given the "Community Service Award" by the Colorado Hispanic Bar Association (CHBA) in recognition of CRI's ongoing commitment to Hispanic families and children. The award was presented by Victoria Lovato, Immediate Past-President of CHBA.

Community Resources is a non-profit organization that enhances the Denver Public Schools curriculum by coordinating guest classroom speakers and early childhood literacy programs, planning family involvement events and career days, and providing academic mentors for students.

The award was received by Sue Edwards, Executive Director of CRI and past member and past president of the Denver Board of Education.

"I offer my sincere thanks on behalf of the thousands of children and families we serve," said Edwards at the Jan. 28 banquet and awards ceremony. "Our organizations share the same core values - commitment to education, commitment to family and commitment to public service. CRI's programs enhance and enrich the education of children of our community and our family involvement nights inform and empower parents to be effective partners in their children's educations."

Edwards attributed the recognition to the "hundreds of community volunteers who give of themselves for the sake of the children, for the sake of the future."
