Denver Public Schools Seeks Parents, Teachers And Community Members For Construction Advisory Committee To Plan Stapleton K-8 School Opening In August 2008; Apply By Monday, Feb. 20

The Denver Board of Education is seeking parents, district employees and community members to serve on an eight- to 10-member Construction Advisory Committee that will play a major role in deciding the appearance of a new K-8 school opening in the Stapleton area in August 2008.

The committee will start meeting in mid-March 2006 and finish work in about eight weeks. Those interested in serving on the committee should send a letter of interest to the Board of Education by Monday, Feb. 20. The letter should include:

Applications also may be faxed to 720-423-3216 or emailed to board@dpsk12.org. For questions about the application process, call the Board of Education Office at 720-423-3211.

The new K-8 school, which will open in August 2008, is the third of five schools planned for the Stapleton area. The project is a unique collaboration among Denver Public Schools, the Denver Urban Renewal Authority (DURA) and Forest City Stapleton, Inc. DURA is funding the construction costs for the project, and Forest City Stapleton Development is donating the land for the building site.
