Morey Middle School Student Honored At 12th Annual 9kids Who Care Ceremony On Saturday, Feb. 4; T'keyah Henry To Be Featured On 9news On Wednesday, Feb. 8
T'keyah Henry, 13, of Morey Middle School is one of nine students who will be honored at the 12th annual 9Kids Who Care ceremony, sponsored by 9News on Saturday, Feb. 4 at the 9News studios, 500 Speer Blvd.
All of the 9Kids Who Care winners will be honored at the Saturday luncheon, where each winner will receive a $200 check. Each winner also will be featured on 9News. Watch for Henry during the noon and 4 p.m. news broadcasts Wednesday, Feb. 8.
Henry has volunteered for many different projects, but she's most passionate about those dealing with environmental issues. As a member of the FrontRange Earth Force, she encourages other kids to help protect the earth. Henry helped build a bike trail at City of Cuernevaca Park and worked to create bird viewing areas at Heron Park.
Outstanding, remarkable, motivated, socially conscious, caring, amazing, enthusiastic, inspiring, and exceptional are nine adjectives used to describe this year's group of 9Kids Who Care winners.
Each of the following "9Kids" has gone far beyond the ordinary, volunteering his or her time and effort to better their communities: Hans Anggraito, 17, of Aurora; Taryn Cantor, 14, of Englewood; Annie Cody, 18, of Aurora; Spencer Harrison, 16, of Parker; T'keyah Henry, 13, of Denver; Pam Menert, 18, of Loveland; Ty Pinkerman, 10, of Brighton; Amber Rose, 16, of Elizabeth; and Mary Van Nest, 13, of Centennial.
This year's 9Kids Who Care winners were selected from more than 40 nominations. A board made up of adults from community organizations helped to narrow the group to 20 and then a group of outstanding youth, including former 9Kids Who Care winners, chose the 10 winners.
