Colorado Wind Ensemble To Host First-Ever Residency For High School Band Students On Thursday, Feb. 16; Evening Concert Planned

The Colorado Wind Ensemble will offer a day-long residency for high school students from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 16 at the Denver School of the Arts to build on skills and interest of bands throughout Denver.

This is a first-ever educational event for high school band students involving the Colorado Wind Ensemble. Over 250 students from all DPS high schools will attend this exciting event that will culminate in a concert featuring talented student musicians performing along side the Colorado Wind Ensemble, which is directed by University of Colorado at Boulder's Assistant Director of Bands, Matthew Roeder. The concert is at 7 p.m. in the Denver School of the Arts Concert Hall.

The CWE was founded in January of 1983 with the purpose of providing the community an opportunity to hear compositions for winds and percussion not generally available in other settings and to provide a means for musicians to play in an environment beyond the college level.

The Denver School of the Arts is located at 7111 Montview Blvd. The telephone number is 720-424-1700. For more information, contact Dave Hammond, Director of Bands at Denver School of the Arts, at 720-424-1744.
