Elementary Art Exhibit Is Open Through Sunday, Feb. 26 At Denver Public Library; Reception Is Monday, Feb. 13
Do you love to see children's art? Head for the Central Branch of the Denver Public Library and go to the Vida Ellison Gallery on Level 7 to see more than 200 pieces of art created by students from 73 elementary schools in Denver Public Schools.
The show opened this week; the reception and awards ceremonies will be from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Monday, Feb. 13. The exhibit will run through Sunday, Feb. 26.
Elementary art teachers were invited to select three pieces of art from students at their schools.
Elementary schools in Denver have expanded their arts and music programs in recent years thanks to part of the $20 million mill levy approved by voters in November 2003. A portion of the money - $6.5 million - is for boosting instruction in visual arts, vocal music, instrumental music, drama and dance at elementary schools.
