Over 200 Students To Perform In Denison Montessori Suzuki Violin And Orchestra Concert On Thursday, Jan. 26 At Kunsmiller Middle School
Over 200 kindergarten through sixth-grade students from Denison Montessori School will present their Suzuki violin and orchestra concert at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 26 at Kunsmiller Middle School, 2250 S. Quitman Way.
Students take lessons twice a week at Denison. At the concert, they will play selections from Suzuki's Book One. There will be 14 soloists who will play from Suzuki Books 2, 3 and 8. Suzuki and Bach are some of the composers; Whistler's Tune is one of the selections.
Karla West is the instructor and trained Suzuki teacher and conductor. She is a musician and is trained in the Suzuki method of teaching through the University of Denver.
Denison Montessori School, a magnet school, is celebrating 20 years of Montessori education in Denver Public Schools. At Denison, the mission is to develop each child's unique capacity for learning. With the guidance of experienced Montessori-trained teachers, students (ages 3 through 12) are part of an educational community dedicated to academic excellence and meaningful participation in a global society.
