Whiteman Elementary School Debuts New Bronco Reading Corner Today (Dec. 2)

Whiteman Elementary School is proud to announce the unveiling of its new Bronco Reading Corner in the school's library at 2 p.m. today (Friday, Dec. 2).

Whiteman is one of five schools to receive this special honor from the Denver Bronco Charities Fund (DBCF), a fund of the McCormick Tribune Foundation.

Other upcoming Bronco Reading corner debuts include Colfax Elementary School (1526 Tennyson St.) on Wednesday, Dec. 7 at 1:30 p.m. and Harrington Elementary School (2401 E. 37th Ave.) on Thursday, Dec. 8 at 1:45 p.m.

Now in its second year, the Bronco Reading Corner program provides a place in the library of each school that includes football-themed, kid-friendly furniture, a wall mural of "Miles" (the Denver Bronco's mascot) that encourages students to read and new books. The overall goal is to boost student's excitement about reading and encourage parents and the community to become more involved in their neighborhood schools.

"Miles" and members of the Denver Broncos and Broncos Charities organizations will attend the unveiling on Friday at Whiteman. Two Whiteman students will thank the Broncos for the new additions to the library and a kindergarten student will read a poem about books. In addition, principal Ronald Oakes will make a few comments.

Whiteman Elementary School is located at 451 Newport St. The school's telephone number is 303-355-7333.
