"Three Piggy Opera" Performed At Bryant-Webster K-8 School Wednesday, Nov. 9
At 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 9 Bryant-Webster K-8 Dual Language School will present its fall musical, "The Three Piggy Opera." The musical is free to the public and will be presented in the school auditorium.
The entire sixth grade at has been actively involved in producing the fall musical. Music instructor Jackie Linan and drama instructor Pattie Kettle have been preparing and rehearsing with students for several weeks. Denver Center for the Performing Arts specialist Anne Penner has provided assistance with the movement, characterization and dancing.
This multi-sensory interpretation of the well-known story "The Three Little Pigs" was written and adapted by educators Sandi Becker and Carol Kaplan. The result is a children's theatre piece which allows students to experience performing a light opera first-hand.
Students have had many academic connections to their core subjects with the preparation and rehearsal of this show. Reading and writing have been emphasized as students learned the script and developed original dialogue to enhance the performance. Math and science connections have been made with the building of the sets and manufacturing of the variety of props for the show. Learning the music and practicing their parts and dance steps has stretched student imaginations and their physical condition.
Bryant-Webster K-8 is located at 3635 Quivas St. The school telephone number is 303-433-3336.
