Procomp - And What's Next For The Teacher Pay Reform - Is Focus Of November Edition Of "Dps Today" Television Show

The November 2005 edition of "DPS Today," the monthly television show about Denver Public Schools on Denver cable 8, features at look at what's ahead for ProComp, the revolutionary teacher pay plan approved by voters on Tuesday, Nov. 1.

Featured guests are Brad Jupp, senior policy analyst to Superintendent Michael Bennet and a key architect of the new Professional Compensation System for Teachers, and Douglas Tucker, a seventh-grade mathematics teacher at Rachel B. Noel Middle School and member of the ProComp development team.

The discussion looks at the next steps of implementing the pay system, the process for teachers to decide whether to opt into the new pay approach, and the Trust Fund Board, which will manage the $25 million earmarked for improving teacher salaries. Voters in Denver on Tuesday, Nov. 1 approved the property tax increase proposal that yields the new revenue stream for ProComp.

"DPS Today" can be seen on Denver cable 8 throughout the month at 8 a.m. every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday; at 8:30 p.m. every Friday and Saturday; and at 1:30 p.m. every Sunday.

Denver stations 22 and 48 also re-broadcast "DPS Today." Channel 22 is the DPS channel on Comcast cable in Denver. Channel 48 is an ITFS microwave channel that is received only within DPS facilities and delivered on cable channel 48 in classrooms.
