Oakland Elementary School Recognizes Heroic Fourth Grader At "Courage To Stand" Assembly On Monday, Nov. 28
At 9:15 a.m. Monday, Nov. 28, just before its annual assembly, "Courage to Stand," Oakland Elementary School is hosting a presentation recognizing Ricardo Caldera, a fourth grader who was wounded during a break-in at his home last month.
Principal Reggie Robinson will present Caldera with a trophy for his bravery in shielding his brother from gunshots.
Following the presentation will be a "Courage to Stand" assembly at 9:30 a.m., a three-screen video presentation by Companies for Kids encouraging students to stand up for what is right when it comes to issues like bullying and peer pressure.
Companies for Kids is an organization that delivers multimedia character education programs to students in Colorado, New Mexico and Wyoming through sponsorships by companies, foundations and individuals. These programs are free to the schools. This particular assembly was paid for through the Daniels Fund.
