Community Invited To "Got Kids? Got Choices!" School Fair On Tuesday, Nov. 29 At Pepsi Center; Free Transportation Available

Mark your calendars for the Denver Public Schools "Got Kids? Got Choices!" school fair from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 29 on the club level at the Pepsi Center, 1000 Chopper Circle. Hear from Superintendent Michael Bennet at 6:30 p.m. The event, including parking, is free.

The Choice program allows students to attend a school other than the one in their neighborhood. Enrollment deadlines for the 2006-2007 school year start in December and January.

Learn about the variety of choices available to families. This district-wide event showcases neighborhood schools, magnet schools and programs, charter schools and contract schools. Meet principals and staff from over 100 Denver schools. Specially trained choice counselors will be available to meet with families and community members.

Additional representatives will be available to discuss programs for gifted and talented students and students who require special educational services. Translators for Spanish-speaking parents and students also will be at the event. Copies of the district's new 2006-2007 enrollment guide will be rolled out as well. Pepsi Center concessions will be open for business at the school fair.

Also, don't miss performances starting at 6 p.m. from students at Smedley and Greenwood elementary schools and John F. Kennedy and Thomas Jefferson high schools.

TRANSPORTATION

Denver Public Schools will provide free transportation to the Nov. 29 school fair from five area schools. One bus will leave each school location at 5:30 p.m. and drive directly to the Pepsi Center. Buses will depart the Pepsi Center at 7:30 p.m. and return directly to each school location.
