"Cool" School At Noel Middle School Continues For Students And Adults On Saturdays To Boost Reading And Math Skills
Two Saturdays each month, about 50 students at Rachel B. Noel Middle School attend COOL School - Community of Outstanding Learners.
The Saturday classes started last month and continue through May. Remaining Saturdays are: Nov. 19; Dec. 3 and 10; Jan. 7, 14, 21 and 28; Feb. 4 and 11; March 4 and 11; April 8 and 22; and May 13.
The third annual COOL School is offered as an optional program by Noel teachers two Saturdays a month to focus on reading and math skills (students also can receive assistance in other subjects). A recreational activity is planned for those students who attend both the reading and math tutoring sessions. The school also offers an independent reading session in the library for those students who just want to come in and read.
In addition, the COOL School offer classes for adults interested in improving their English, Spanish and basic computer skills.
A breakfast snack is provided for students and adults from 8:30 to 9 a.m. COOL School starts at 9:05 and ends at 11:50 a.m.
