FrontRange Earth Force Places AmeriCorps Promise Fellow To Work With Denver Schools

The Center for Nonprofit Excellence named FrontRange Earth Force as a recipient of an AmeriCorps Promise Fellow to work on a year-long, youth focused project developed in close partnership with the Denver Public Schools Office of Character and School Culture. This office is committed to developing youth voice as a means of enhancing school culture.

The fellow will help support youth councils in schools by helping teachers form youth councils, implementing successful service-learning projects with their students and building a school culture around respecting youth leadership and voice. The fellow also will help recruit volunteers to support the teachers and advisors working with youth councils, and will help plan events that will build the leadership skills of youth council members.

The fellow will complete 1,700 hours of service over a 12-month period and will receive a $4,725 educational award at the completion of his or her service.

FrontRange Earth Force is a nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering youth to take leadership roles in improving the quality of life in their neighborhoods. It is one of 14 nonprofits, government agencies and school districts in Colorado that will host a Colorado AmeriCorps Fellow beginning in January 2006.
