Ford Elementary School Will Donate $2,917 To Red Cross Sept. 30 To Benefit Hurricane Katrina Relief

Ford Elementary School principal Helen Trujillo-Wulfers, teacher Jamila Rockette and a group of students who organized a Hurricane Katrina fundraiser will deliver $2,917 to the American Red Cross (444 Sherman St., Denver) at approximately 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 30. (The group plans to depart the school at 10:30 a.m.)

The fundraiser began on Tuesday, Sept. 6 and ended on Friday, Sept. 16; during the first three days $1,000 was raised.

Students sold candy each day after school to collect money, adding to individual student and staff donations. The school also donated a portion of recent book fair profits in addition to profits from a Sept. 16 Mexican Independence Day fundraiser hosted by parents and families.
