Wyman Elementary School's Family Math Night Is Sept. 28
Wyman Elementary School will host a Math Night from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 28. During this night of fun, games and food, parents can learn and experience the engaging math games that are an essential part of the district's Everyday Math program.
ABOUT EVERYDAY MATH
Everyday Math is the district-wide elementary math curriculum that was designed to teach children to incorporate math into everyday life by using situations and context that are relevant to daily life rather than teaching the skills and numbers in an isolated way. The curriculum also includes time for whole-group instruction, as well as small-group, partner or individual activities. These activities balance teacher-directed instruction with opportunities for open-ended, hands-on explorations, long-term projects, and ongoing practice. Throughout the Everyday Mathematics curriculum, students are encouraged to explain and discuss their mathematical thinking. Opportunities to verbalize their thoughts and strategies give children the chance to clarify their thinking and gain insights from others.
Wyman Elementary School is located at 1690 Williams St. The phone number is 303-320-1632.
