Students At Fairmont Dual Language Immersion Academy To Sell Bracelets Benefiting Hurricane Evacuees
Students at Fairmont Dual Language Immersion Academy this week began selling silicone bracelets sporting the inscription "Katrina Relief" to benefit hurricane evacuees.
The school is asking for a minimum donation of $2 for each bracelet. All proceeds will be donated to the American Red Cross. The bracelets are on sale in the school cafeteria from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and also in the office from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
"We hope the Denver Public Schools community will join with us to help the victims affected by Katrina," said administrative assistant Elizabeth TenCate.
Fairmont offers an innovative Dual Language Program in Spanish and English to all students in Early Childhood Education through second grade. Each year, one additional grade level will be added to the Dual Language Program. The goal is to assist in the creation of students who are bilingual, bi-literate and bicultural and who understand the value of global citizenship.
Fairmont Dual Language Immersion Academy is located at 523 W. Third Ave. The school's phone number is 303-893-1957.
