Denver Schools Celebrate Constitution Day; Lincoln High School Civics Class Open To Media Tuesday, Sept. 13
Beginning this week, schools throughout Denver are observing Constitution Day - a federal mandate that schools hold an educational program pertaining to the US Constitution on Sept. 17 of each year.
Sept. 17 is the anniversary of the signing of the US constitution. Because this year's date falls on a Saturday, Denver schools have selected a day this week or next on which to observe the new law intended to help students gain a deeper understanding and appreciation of the US Constitution.
The media are invited to attend teacher Elizabeth Correa's civics class at 10:25 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 13 at Abraham Lincoln High School, 2285 S. Federal Blvd. For the past week, students have been researching other countries' constitutions. During tomorrow's lesson, they will compare the basic ideals of the US Constitution to those of other countries.
