Registration This Week And Next Week For Middle And High Schools; Classes Begin Aug. 15 And 16 For Schools On Traditional Calendar
Middle and high school registration at some schools begins this week for new and returning students. Walk-in registration district wide for all middle and high school students is Monday and Tuesday, Aug. 8 and 9. (To register for elementary or K-8 schools, please call the individual schools for registration hours. Phone numbers are online at schoolforms.dpsk12.org/schoollist.)
The first day of school (traditional calendar) is Monday, Aug. 15 for all early childhood education, elementary and K-8 students, and for middle school sixth graders and high school ninth graders. (Note that seventh and eighth graders at Bruce Randolph Middle School also start on Monday, Aug. 15; there is no sixth grade at that school this year.) Tuesday, Aug. 16 is the first day of school for all other middle and high school students.
Students enrolling for the first time in Denver Public Schools will need to bring: verification of child's date of birth (birth certificate or other documentation); immunization records; proof of home address (something mailed to home address, such as utility bill or copy of a lease); and name and address of previous school (if the student is transferring from another school district).
Following is this week's registration information at some middle and high schools prior to walk-in registration district wide at all middle and high schools on Monday and Tuesday, Aug. 8 and 9:
ABRAHAM LINCOLN HIGH SCHOOL, 2285 S. Federal Blvd.
Registration for returning students is from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 2; 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 3; and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 4. Registration packets for returning and incoming ninth graders were mailed the last week of July. New and transferring students who are unable to attend the returning student registration can register during walk-in registration from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, Aug. 8, 9 and 10. The school will resume registration at 7:30 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 16. Families are encouraged to stop by and pick up registration packets prior to registration dates to expedite the registration process.
DENVER SCHOOL OF THE ARTS (6-12), 7111 Montview Blvd.
DSA has extended registration to include:
- Monday, Aug. 8: one-hour orientation meetings at 10 a.m. for seniors and at 1 p.m. for juniors.
- Tuesday, Aug. 9: one-hour orientation meetings at 10 a.m. for freshmen and 1 p.m. for sophomores.
- Wednesday, Aug. 10: one-hour orientation meetings at 10 a.m. for sixth graders and 1 p.m. for seventh and eighth graders.
HAMILTON MIDDLE SCHOOL, 8600 E. Dartmouth Ave.
Registration is from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 6; 10 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Monday, Aug. 8; and 10 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 9. Students should bring up-to-date immunization records and current emergency phone numbers. All families must participate in this registration process at the school; no registration materials will be sent through the mail.
HORACE MANN MIDDLE SCHOOL, 4130 Navajo St.
Registration is from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on the following dates: Tuesday, Aug. 2 for sixth grade; Monday, Aug. 8 for seventh grade; and Tuesday, Aug. 9 for eighth grade. Walk-in registration for all grade levels is Monday and Tuesday, Aug. 8 and 9.
MOREY MIDDLE SCHOOL, 840 E. 14th Ave.
All parents must register their students prior to the beginning of school on one of the following days: sixth grade from 1 to 6 p.m. Monday, Aug. 8; seventh and eighth grades from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 9. Various fees will be collected at this time.
NORTH HIGH SCHOOL, 2960 North Speer Blvd.
Registration for all students is from 7:30 to 10:30 a.m. and 12:30 to 3:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 4, and Monday and Tuesday, Aug. 8 and 9; registration also is from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 10. Students who are unable to register at the designated registration times may register from 1 to 3 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 16 and from 3 to 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 17.
PLACE MIDDLE SCHOOL, 7125 Cherry Creek Drive North
Registration (in addition to district wide walk-in dates) is from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday, Aug. 3 and 4 and from 9 a.m. to noon Friday, Aug. 5.
RANDOLPH MIDDLE SCHOOL (7-8), 3955 Steele St.
Registration (in addition to district wide walk-in dates) is from 12 to 7 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday, Aug. 3 and 4.
SMILEY MIDDLE SCHOOL, 2540 Holly St.
Registration for all students is from 8 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 6. Registration for sixth graders is from 8 to 11:30 a.m. and 1 to 3 p.m. Monday, Aug. 8. Seventh-grade registration is from 8 to 11:30 a.m. and 1 to 3 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 9. Eighth-grade registration is from 8 to 11:30 a.m. and 1 to 3 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 10.
WEST HIGH SCHOOL, 951 Elati St.
Returning students in grades 10, 11 and 12 may register by last name:
- 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday, Aug. 1 (last names beginning with A-F)
- 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 3 (last names beginning with G-N)
- 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 4 (last names beginning with O-Z)
New students and all freshmen (grade 9) must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian for walk-in registrations to be held:
- 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday, Aug. 8 (last names beginning with A-L)
- 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 9 (last names beginning with M-Z)
