Bromwell Elementary School Students Paddling In Kayak Tanks, Climbing Rock Walls Among Outdoor Educational Experience This Week

Students at Bromwell Elementary School this week are climbing rock walls, riding mountain bikes through skills courses, paddling in kayak tanks and learning in outdoor classrooms how to "leave no trace" in the wilderness.

From 8:10 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily through Friday, Sept. 2, "avid 4 adventure" is hosting an outdoor educational experience at the school to introduce students to non-competitive outdoor lifestyles. The program uses experiences that provide environmental understanding, memorable adventures and teamwork while also increasing personal development physically, socially and emotionally.

Though the school day ends at 3 p.m., families are invited to join students for another hour to see what they've learned and participate at no extra cost. (The program costs $18 per student with financial aid available; normal rates are between $75 and $125 per person.)

"Avid 4 adventure" is an organization that engages children in active outdoor pursuits in a safety-oriented, environmentally responsible manner. It provides age-appropriate outdoor activities that encourage learning, develop self-esteem and build friendships.

David Secunda, the former director of the CU Outdoor Education Program and the Outdoor Recreation Coalition of America, founded the company in 2004. "Avid 4 adventure" will serve over 5,000 students this year along the Front Range. For more information, call 720-249-2412 or access www.avid4.com.

Bromwell Elementary School is located at 2500 E. 4th Ave. The phone number is 303-388-5969.
