Board Of Education Meeting Agendas For Thursday, Aug. 4
The Board of Education will hold a work session, public comment session and regular meeting on Thursday, Aug. 4 at the administration building, 900 Grant St. Following is a review of agenda highlights:
4 P.M. WORK SESSION
The Board will review meeting agenda items and discuss the Chief Academic Officer vacancy and potential modifications to the Board meeting schedule.
5 P.M. REGULAR MEETING
Agenda highlights include a report on CSAP results released this week and a motion to ratify the employment contract with Superintendent Michael Bennet.
Old business (not for action on Thursday) includes decisions about changes to: Policy JK, Student Discipline; Policy EGAD, Copyrights and Patents; Policy IJL, Library Materials and Resources Selection; Policy DK, Payroll/Deductions/Direct Deposit/Expense; Policy EI, Insurance Programs/Risk Management; Policy IJJ, Textbook Selection and Adoption; Policy JRA/JRC, Student Records/Release of Information on Students; and Policy KF, Community Use of Facilities.
Old business also includes proposed new Policy GBEF, Violence in the Workplace, which would prohibit violent acts, including remarks among employees, as well as repealing two others: Policy EEAG, Student Transportation in Private Vehicles; and Policy EEBB, Use of Private Vehicles on School Business.
New business to be introduced includes revisions to: Policy JKA, Student Restraint, which describes when and under what circumstances employees may restrain students; and Policy JKF, Discipline of Students with Disabilities.
6 P.M. PUBLIC COMMENT SESSION
At 6 p.m. on the first Thursday of the month during the school year, the Board holds public comment sessions to listen to comments about student achievement, budget policy or matters currently under consideration by the Board. Each speaker will have three minutes to speak, but groups of four or more people speaking on the same topic will have 10 minutes collectively. To sign up to speak, please call the Board office at 720-423-3210 by 5 p.m. the day before the meeting.
