2nd Annual Hispanic Education Advisory Council (HEAC) Awards On May 2 Honor Nine Students, Teachers And Parents
Congratulations to the nine 2005 Hispanic Education Advisory Council (HEAC) award winners who will be recognized at a ceremony from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, May 2 at the Denver School of the Arts, at 7111 Montview Blvd.
The awards recognize students from all grade levels for their outstanding academic achievement and leadership qualities and also recognize teachers, paraprofessionals, parents/guardians and community volunteers who have made outstanding contributions to Denver Public Schools students.
Student winners are: Alexis Angel, College View Elementary School; Aaron Ray Guerca, Hamilton Middle School; and Brianna Gallegos, George Washington High School.
Parent winners are: Norma Ordonez, Force Elementary School; Mara Maes, Kepner Middle School; and Maria Galvan, Lincoln High School.
Teacher winners are: Bea Garcia, Colfax Elementary School; Teresa Martinez, Lake Middle School; and Maria DeSantis-John, North High School.
All HEAC award nominees will receive a certificate at the ceremony, and the award winners will be presented with plaques. Their families/guests and those who nominated them are invited to the ceremony. Please RSVP to Marlene DeLaRosa at 303-455-1413 by Saturday, April 30.
The Hispanic Education Advisory Council was organized on September 10, 1969, with the mission of assuring excellence in education for Hispanic students and the community by assisting the Board of Education and the Superintendent in understanding and addressing the issues of Hispanic students. HEAC is committed to working with and serving the Hispanic community and all DPS students, in particular, Hispanic students.
