Eighteen National History Day Teams From Denver Going To Finals June 11-18 In Maryland
Eighteen History Day student teams from Denver Public Schools earned first- or second-place awards at the Colorado History Day competition on Saturday, April 23 and are headed to the National History Day competition June 11-18 at the University of Maryland.
Junior Paper
2nd Place - Scott Sigman: "Sculpture in Romanesque Architecture: Lessons and Moral Guidance in Stone" (Hamilton Middle School; Doug Wilhelm, teacher).
Junior Group Exhibit
2nd Place - Natalie Lays and Christie Collins: "Jane Goodall Communicates with Chimpanzees: Understanding a Foreign Unseen World" (Hamilton Middle School; Sharon Dacotah, teacher).

1st Place - Faryn Tobler: "The Power of the Pen: Harriet Beecher-Stowe Communicates the Evils of Slavery" (Denver School of the Arts; Barbara Allen, teacher).

1st Place - Chloe Armao, Nyasha James-Davis, Aura Cruz, Jaqueline Meraz and Eboni Coleman: "Communication on the Road to Freedom: The Journey of the Underground Railroad" (Denver School of the Arts; Barbara Allen, teacher).
2nd Place - Madeleine Winslow, Chelsea Proctor and Cassie Cherry: "I Love Lucy - A Communication Through Television History" (Hamilton Middle School; Sharon Dacotah, teacher).

2nd Place - Shannon Desmond, Tracy Fielder and Riley Price: "The American Combat Photographer: Communicating the Horrors of World War II Through Photography" (Denver School of the Arts; Ed Glassman, teacher).
