Junior Symphony Guild Rehearsal And Clinic With Martin Luther King, Jr. Middle School Students Friday, Jan. 14
The Junior Symphony Guild's efforts to support classical music outreach will touch base at Martin Luther King, Jr. Middle School on Friday, Jan. 14 with a rehearsal and clinic beginning at 12:45 p.m. in the band room.
The session will be "in the round" with students sitting in the middle of the ensemble. More than 20 orchestral works will be rehearsed during the 90-minute session and students will observe how professionals practice and hone repertoire in a short amount of time.
The Junior Symphony Guild runs for program for students from preschool through middle school. All programs use professional musicians drawn from the Colorado Symphony Orchestra, the Boulder Philharmonic, the Colorado Springs Philharmonic and from area union session players. Recently, the Junior Symphony Guild was awarded a special recognition from the American Symphony Orchestra League for best musical outreach in the nation.
The Junior Symphony Guild also currently is working with Rishel and Place middle schools with similar efforts. In all, the guild programs are reaching about 29,000 students across Metro Denver schools each year.
