Board Of Education Agendas For Thursday, Jan. 27
The Board of Education meetings on Thursday, Jan. 27 include a Work Session, DPS-DCTA Joint Market Compensation Task Force Meeting and Regular Meeting. Following are key agenda items:
2 p.m. Work Session Room 706 (Please note some items may not be considered until after the regular meeting)
- Review of 5 p.m. regular Board meeting agenda
- Executive session (closed - legal)

4 p.m. DPS/DCTA Joint Market Compensation Task Force Meeting, first floor Board Room
- Presentation on market compensation survey results

- Report on 4 p.m. DPS/DCTA Joint Market Compensation Task Force presentation on market compensation survey results
- Motion to approve the changes to the ProComp agreement between DCTA and DPS that govern the 'opt-in' window. (First opt-in window being postponed until after November 2005 mill levy election on ProComp.)
- Motion to approve the revitalization plan for Montclair Elementary School, establishing Early High-Strides and School-Wide Enrichment Models beginning with the 2005-2006 school year.
- Motion to approve the revitalization plan for Hill Middle School, establishing a campus of Arts and Sciences with a focus on technology and an expansive arts electives program beginning with the 2005-2006 school year.
- Motion to approve a new policy mandating a 3 percent contingency in the budget, created over three years.
- Motion to approve Policy JC, Pupil Assignment and Police IF, School Design - both involve making policy changes consistent with the core values, strategies and filters included in the Choice Options Resolution 2908.
- A series of motions related to the Denver Public Schools Retirement System. One motion corrects the "Maximum Permissible Benefit" to make the plan in compliance with the IRS. Another motion increases the actuarial reduction for early retirement, adjusts the Annual Retirement Allowance Adjustment for new hires after Jan. 1, 2006, and pro-rates the first ARAA for members who become retirement eligible after Jan. 1, 2006. Another motion allows for a phase-in of the employer contribution rate to achieve full annual required contribution by July 1, 2008. The final motion adopts a phase-in contribution rate of 9.48 percent for the retirement plan, effective July 1, 2005.
- Motion to approve design/build contract for Hilltop Remediation Project.
- Motion to approve award of invitation to provide required items to stock the Food Services warehouse.
- Motion to approve award of invitation to provide structured cabling at Abraham Lincoln, Montbello and North high schools; CLA; CEC; Henry, Martin Luther King Jr., Merrill and Place middle schools; and Doull, Ellis, Greenwood, Holm, Knight, Maxwell, McMeen, Moore and Teller elementary schools.
- Motion to approve award of invitation to provide structured cabling at Denison Montessori, Green Valley, Lincoln, Palmer and Samuels elementary schools.
- Motion to approve future utility easements for the Stapleton II K-8 project.
- Motion to approve an amendment to the school site agreement between DPS and Oakwood Homes.
- Under new business: a report on the future of Gove Middle School; recommendations regarding five charter school renewal applications - a) P.S. 1, b) Challenges, Choices and Images, c) Community Challenge, d) Pioneer, and e) Denver Arts and Technology Academy; a report recommending changing Fairmont and Greenlee elementary schools from ECE-5 grade configurations to ECE-8; recommended tuition rates for 2005-2006 for Early Childhood Education, Extended-Day Kindergarten, and Montessori.
