Next Week Is Deadline For 2005-2006 Choice Enrollment, Elementary School Magnet Programs, Early Childhood Education And Full-Day Kindergarten Classes; Enrollment Guide Is Online
There's one more week left - families interested in enrolling their child in: 1) a school other than their neighborhood school; 2) an elementary school magnet program; 3) Early Childhood Education; or 4) full-day kindergarten classes for the 2005-2006 school year should complete enrollment forms by Monday, Jan. 31.
Choice Enrollment
Choice enrollment forms now are available at all schools. To ensure the best chance of securing a seat in another school, completed enrollment forms for the 2005-2006 school year need to be returned by Monday, Jan. 31. Forms may be returned to any school for central processing. A lottery will be conducted if there are more applicants than space available in a school. Families will receive an acceptance letter or a waiting list notification by mid-February.
After Jan. 31, families will need to return Choice forms to the specific school or schools that interest them. These may be completed through Friday, Aug. 26. Students are enrolled during this second round of the Choice process on a first-come, first-served basis. Waiting lists are maintained for schools with more applicants than space available.
Magnet School Application Deadlines
Enrollment deadlines for the 2005-2006 school year began last month; Friday, Dec. 10 was the deadline for Gifted and Talented education applications and middle and high school magnet programs. The deadline for all elementary school magnet applications is Monday, Jan. 31. Magnet schools may emphasize a particular style of learning or serve students with a common area of interest. Each magnet school manages its own application process. Ask for application information from the magnet school that interests you.
Early Childhood Education (Ece)
Early Childhood Education (ECE) enrollment forms now are available at schools. Forms may be returned to schools for central processing. A lottery will be conducted if there are more applicants than space available in a school. Families will receive an acceptance letter or a waiting list notification by mid-February.
