Cole Middle School Becomes "Gallery" Of Student Work On Jan. 20; PowerPoint Presentations, Student Magazines and Books, Live Taste Tests Among Variety Of Work Showcased

Cole Middle School will host Gallery Night from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 20. Students each will display at least two pieces of their work from science, literacy or math classes and also from their exploratory classes. The school will showcase the work similar to the way an art gallery showcases artists' work. The community is invited to attend (refreshments will be provided).

"For the past two and half years, Cole staff has worked diligently and relentlessly to create an environment that promotes life-long learning and responsibility in our students," said principal Jennifer Barton. "Gallery Night serves as an opportunity for us to showcase the academic growth and success of our students to their families and the community."

Some examples of work that will be on display include cup stacking demonstrations on the stage in the auditorium; Planet Books created in sixth grade science classes; taste tests conducted live that evening by eighth-grade students to demonstrate different ways of gathering data; books created by students to educate about radon, water, etc. (environmental issues); power point presentations prepared by computer students; magazines and personal essays written in literacy classes; and graph projects from math students.

Cole Middle School is located at 3240 Humboldt St. For more information, contact the school at 303-296-8421.
