Tsunami Fundraising Efforts At Columbian Elementary School, Grant Middle School And Denver School Of The Arts

The Denver School of the Arts will donate profits of its Thursday, Jan. 13 opening night production of "A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum" for tsunami aid. "It's our way of being able to help those who are in desperate need of assistance right now, especially the children," said principal Patti Bippus. The production is at 7 p.m. Jan. 13-15 and 19-21 in the school's Kay Schomp Theater, 7111 Montview Blvd. Tickets are $8 to $12. Call 303-321-9435 for more ticket information.

At Grant Middle School (1751 S. Washington St.), the eighth-grade class will hold a bake sale to raise money for the devastating tragedy. The bake sale will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 15 in the lobby of the school. Columbian Elementary School (2925 W. 40th Ave.) will be collecting change (quarters, dimes, nickels and pennies) and dollars, too, through Thursday, Jan. 20 to help the survivors of the tsunami/earthquake in South Asia. The school will make its donation through the Red Cross. Collections will take place in the lobby before and after school and in the lunchroom during the regular student lunch hour. Proceeds from the School Store sales on Jan. 7 and Jan. 14 also will be donated. Please contact principal Beverly Winders for more information, 303-433-2539.
