East High School Set To Hold Presentation Of New Book "Flight Of Angels: A History Of East High School 1874-2004" On Sunday Dec. 5

East High School will host an open house for the presentation of Richard Nelson's new book "Flight of Angels: A History of East High School 1874-2004" from 1 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 5 in the East High School main lobby. Nelson will be on hand to sell and autograph his book.

Nelson was chosen to research and write "Flight of Angels" by the Alumni and Friends of East in order to update the school's history and to give former and current students a sense of what it was like to be at East throughout the decades. Profits from the sale of the book will be given to the Alumni and Friends of East for various historical projects.

"Despite how things have changed, East still remains a special place for people to go to school," said Nelson. "As long as those of us involved keep working hard, East will always be one of the bright spots in the Denver Public Schools."

The open house will feature a tour of the historical tower museum, a walking tour of the various historical sites within the building and the Angelaires will provide music throughout the afternoon. The school will also hold an information session about the East High Foundation library renovation project.

About the Book:

"Flight of Angels" divides East High School's history by decades in an attempt to show how East has evolved over the past 130 years. It depicts each generation as having been faced with its own unique challenges and problems: students of the 30's faced the depression; students of the 40's faced World War II; students of the 60's and 70's faced civil rights, the Vietnam War, the assassination of national leaders; students of the 90's and 00's faced Columbine and 9/11.
