Art Education, New Teacher Evaluation Process And Milken Winner Diane Palmer Featured On December Edition Of "DPS Today" Monthly Television Show
The December 2004 edition of "DPS Today," the monthly television show about Denver Public Schools on Denver cable 8, features three topics - an update on the expansion of arts education in elementary schools, a new teacher evaluation process and an interview with award-winning teacher Diane Palmer from Schenck Elementary School.
The show includes:
- Interviews with Janet Montgomery, director of art and music for Denver Public Schools, and Lowry Elementary School art teacher Gary Bloom about changes in schools following taxpayer support of expanded art instruction.
- Interviews with Southmoor Elementary School principal Anita Gallegos-Theriot and South High School mathematics teacher Anna Holm; both have been working on a committee that is trying out a new teacher evaluation process this school year.
- An interview with Schenck Elementary School teacher Diane Palmer, who recently was named a Milken National Educator Award winner. Palmer was one of only two recipients this year in Colorado.
The show will begin airing Wednesday, Dec. 1 on Denver 8 cable. The show can be seen every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday at 8 a.m. and every Friday and Saturday at 8:30 p.m. throughout the month.
Denver stations 22 and 48 also re-broadcast "DPS Today." Channel 22 is the DPS channel on Comcast cable in Denver. Channel 48 is an ITFS microwave channel that is received only within all DPS facilities and delivered on cable channel 48 in the each classroom. On Sundays, the show for the current month airs at 4 p.m. on channels 22 and 48, followed by a screening of the show from the previous month at 4:30 p.m. On Mondays and Wednesdays at 12:30 p.m. and on Thursdays at 4:30 p.m., the current show also airs.
