District Telephone And Fax Numbers Begin Changing Friday, Oct. 8
Denver Public Schools telephone and fax numbers will begin changing after business hours on Friday, Oct. 8 starting with the Administration Building (900 Grant St.), Department of Technology Services - DoTS (780 Grant St.) and the CEC Middle College of Denver (2650 Eliot St.).
The conversions are the first in a series of changes through most of 2005 during which school and department telephone and fax numbers will change (elementary school main telephone numbers will not change).
The changes will bring DPS into compliance with state legislative requirements that all district, school and classroom telephones can be tracked by 911 emergency response systems. The $310 million bond approved by voters in November 2003 included $251,000 to upgrade the more than 20,000 individual telephone lines that are part of the district's 12-year-old system.
The next changes in the series are scheduled for the evening of Friday, Nov. 5 at the Emily Griffith Opportunity School. Access this link for a list of dates during which telephone and fax numbers for each building districtwide will be converted: http://dots.dpsk12.org/phoneupdate.
All school telephone and fax numbers districtwide will be available online from this link as they are updated: http://www.dpsk12.org/schoollist. For central administration phone numbers, contact the main switchboard at 720-423-3200 (effective Monday, Oct. 11).
All existing main telephone and fax numbers will be intercepted for a year after the conversions. External callers will hear a recorded message announcing the new number.
Starting Saturday, Oct. 9, all telephone and fax numbers at the DPS Administration Building, DoTS and the CEC Middle College of Denver will begin with the 720 area code and 423 prefix. The CEC Middle College of Denver's new telephone number will be 720-423-6600.
