Grant Middle School Students Head To Corn Maze Today - Friday, Oct. 8 - To Work With Global Positioning Systems
Nearly 100 eighth grade students from Grant Middle School are heading to Anderson's Farm Corn Maze in Erie, Colorado today (Friday, Oct. 8) to work with Global Positioning Systems (GPS) receivers.
The student project is part of the Orton Family's Community Mapping Project grant that Denver Public Schools has received. This is the second year of the grant and Grant Middle School's first year of involvement in the Community Mapping Project.
Students will learn how the systems are used to design and cut out intricate corn mazes. They will then go into the maze to enhance their orientation, map reading skills and have fun trying not to get lost in the maze!
This information will in turn be used during the rest of the school year as students learn how to use GPS as a mapping system.
Anderson's Farm Corn Maize is located at 6728 Weld County Road 3 1/4 in Erie, Co. The telephone number at the farm is 303-696-6659.
