South High Chess Open To Be Held On Saturday, Nov. 6; Middle And High School Students Invited To Participate
South High School is set to hold the South High Chess Open for all middle and high school students from 8 a.m. to 3:45 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 6. The tournament will be held at South High School, 1700 E. Louisiana Ave. All middle and high school aged students are invited to participate.
The tournament will be unrated and will be limited to 100 participants. The participants will be divided into two divisions: grades six through eight and grades nine through 12. Prizes will be awarded to the top 10 students in each division.
The tournament schedule will be as follows:
- Registration, 8 to 8:30 a.m.
- Round 1, 9 to 10 a.m.
- Round 2, 10:15 to 11:15 a.m.
- Lunch, 11:15 a.m. to 12 p.m.
- Round 3, 12:05 to 1:05 p.m.
- Round 4, 1:20 to 2:20 p.m.
- Final Round, 2:45 to 3:45 p.m.
Registration fees for the tournament are $10 before Friday, Oct. 15; $12 before Wednesday, Nov. 3; and $15 the day of the event.
